7-8″ Glass Tanoa

One of Fiji and the Pacific Islands iconic cultural objects, The Tanoa  holds a important place in life and society throughout the islands – from the highest strata of  chiefly society to a group of friends sitting together under the mango tree, it is around the tanoa (grog bowl) that the families and people of Fiji gather together to talk, decide, relax and laugh.

Hot Glass Fiji’s Glass Tanoas are an elegant fusion of hand blown glass and Fili’s individually hand carved Fiji hard wood. Each tanoa base is individually made to fit its glass bowl, to create a unique Glass Tanoa.

The Glass Tanoas can be made in your colour of choice and the wood can be natural mahogany or stained black. The small Tanoa is between 7″ and 8″ in diameter. All our Glass Tanoas are made to order, once we have blown the glass bowl we carve and sand the mahogany to fit the bowl. We then need to dry the wood, re-sand and wax before sending. This process can take up to a month, be assured its worth the wait! We sometimes have a few in stock, if we do we will let you know and adjust the delivery time.
