On October 9th, the 2019 “Born from Fire” exhibition will open its doors to the public at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
Now firmly recognised as an outstanding fixture on the artistic calendar in Fiji and certainly the premier 3-dimensional art exhibition, this year’s edition is entitled “Born from Fire 2019 – Reflections of Viti” and takes as its major inspiration the rich culture and heritage of the Islands of Fiji and their people.
We were delighted with the fantastic reaction to the 2017 and 2018 exhibitions and we are very excited at the work we have to put on show.
The core of the exhibition remains the glass and metal sculptures and pieces from Alice at Hot Glass Fiji and from Shane Bower’s ‘Imagination in Metal’ studio in Savusavu, but we are very pleased to be able to have work from a special guest artist again .
Lambert Ho is probably one of the highest profile contemporary artists in Fiji at and his dynamic and colourful work and the inspirations behind it dovetail perfectly with ‘Reflections of Viti’.
Following Sonny Sofe’s intricately carved balabala works last year, we hope to continue to showcase the incredible art that is created in Fiji.
The exhibition is free to visit, is held in the Rara Lounge at the Grand Pacific Hotel and following the Private View and Opening on the 8th of October, it will be open to the public from Wednesday 9th October till Sunday 13th October from 9 am – 6pm.
Don’t miss out!
