Alice has once again partnered with Shane to develop their new exhibition, Born from Fire 2018 – ‘From Ocean to Forest’.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural collaborative exhibition between Alice Hill at Hot Glass Fiji and Shane Bower from Imagination in Metal , the second “Born from Fire” exhibition will open at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on October 18th 2018.
Artist Profile – Shane Bower – Imagination in Metal
Currently based in Savusavu, Shane Bower was born and raised in Fiji’s urban capital Suva city where he was introduced to the process of working with metal as a young apprentice at a boat building company.
Combined with an industrious and innovative vision, Shane has become one of Fiji’s most sought-after practising artists expertly working in large and small scale, copper and metal, for both private and corporate clientele.
Shane’s visual language conveys an acute understanding of form, whether expressed in three-dimensional sculptures, or translated into two-dimensional compositions.
Through his various large-scale studies of sea creatures, most notably the school of dolphins hung suspended in the atrium of the Prouds flagship store in Nadi Town, Shane captures movement and grace in perfectly representational and individually unique works.
Custom-made wrought-iron gates offer both security and public / private beautification.
Often featuring carefully considered compositions of flora and fauna, the works are robust and timeless connecting seamlessly to their environment.
In linear compositions, Shane’s designs are confident manifestations of symmetry and structure whilst more three-dimensional designs, including copper detailing, add depth and personality.
In his small scale works, Shane’s intricate attention to detail and craftsmanship make for tactile, beautiful objects, ideal for homes and offices.
In his series of Fijian takia, Shane explores a full palette of warm copper hues from hot pink to smoldering oranges.
His figurative works, reflecting on everyday life in Fijian villages, embody a rich contrast between the subtleties of human movement realised in blackened, industrial metal.
From large scale sculpture to decorative gates and home decor, Shane’s innovative signature style has come to represent high quality craftsmanship and a confident understanding of metal in all its forms.
As a committed and entrepreneurial creative practitioner, Shane’s work is built to last and made with a love for Fiji, her people and landscapes always at its core.
Shane works on commission so many of his sculptures are sold before being listed on Facebook.
Please contact him direct at email@example.com for quotes if the item you are interested in has been sold. If there is an item not shown that you would like him to sculpt please send him a photo with your request.
